It is accompanied by changes in the normal tear film and inflammation of the ocular surface. In fact, dry eye disease occurs when your eyes do not produce enough tears or produce poor quality tears. We recommend an eye exam when a child appears to have a problem-no matter what age, but all children should have an eye exam at 6 months of age.
